Understanding Confidentiality

Parties to a formal UWC proceeding are free to discuss the allegations under investigation, the fact that a complaint has been filed, and Yale’s handling of the complaint.  However, all documents that are prepared specifically for use in a formal proceeding must be held in strict confidence.  The purpose of confidentiality is to encourage parties and witnesses to participate in UWC proceedings and to share all the pertinent information they have to offer, which is essential to reaching a fair outcome.  Further information can be found in the Statement on Confidentiality of UWC Documents.
